2017: Looking Ahead

2017: Looking Ahead

Focus. That’s my main focus for 2017. Way too often, I’ll look back at the end of the day and feel like I’ve accomplished very little even though I was non-stop busy all day. Does that ever happen to you? It’s not a good feeling (it’s kinda the worst).

This year, I’m going to teach myself to focus on one task at a time. One way I’m going to accomplish this is to work on being more present. So, for example, be OK with waiting 10 seconds for a website to load instead of switching tasks while I’m waiting and then find myself constantly going back and forth between multiple things. Or, not getting distracted by every little thought that pops into my head (that’s what my bullet journal is for, I can just write it down and take care of it later). I also want to start working on batching tasks and blocking out time in my calendar to do specific things, so we’ll see how that goes!

Anyway, I have a really hard time with focusing, and I’ve only gotten worse with every tiny human that has taken residency in my house (and my brain). I did an experiment the other day where told myself I was going to work on one task for a whole hour.  I made it 40 minutes before getting distracted by something, but at least I took notice, so that’s a start.

Even this post feels scattered and unfocused, but I guess that’s just how my brain works sometimes!

Keep reading for some of my personal goals for 2017. And be on the lookout for my plans for Michelle Beckner Family Wellness this year (hint: it’s a lot of fun stuff, let’s see if I can focus and get it all done!)

My Mantras for 2017
-FOCUS
-Be Present

-Do more of what makes me happy (and get clear on what does make me happy)
-Listen more, talk less
MuTu stretches and exercises every night, followed by at least 5 minutes of meditation (Hint: do this as soon as the kids go to bed or it won’t get done!)
-Daily Journal (I’m loving this Q&A a Day for Moms Journal)

-Sit less

What are some of your goal for this year?  Have you ever made a yearly bucket list?  This is my first time…I’m still trying to brainstorm some fun things to put on it!
